Alaba open to Liverpool move but won't be moving in January window
According to reports today, David Alaba, the superstar Bayern Munich has had a 'falling out' with the Bundesliga Champions' upper echelons.
The reports from FootballInsider claims that the club has even gone as far as to withdraw their contract offer, which was apparently rejected by the player, and it looks likely he'll be moving on by the end of the season.
The 28 year old has been ay Bayern his whole career, winning over 20 major trophies, with 70+ caps for Austria and is widely regarded as one of the best full backs in the world.
But in the past 12 months he's shown his adaptability in playing as a centre back for Bayern, a position in which he's excelled at home, and in Europe.
Alaba would apparently be open to a move to Anfield (although these claims are supported by any quotes or citations) but would prefer a move to Barcelona or Real Madrid.
That said, Liverpool's need is immediate, and another report (this one from BILD) states that the German side won't be allowing Alaba to leave in January and their treble-winning boss is looking to hold onto him for 'as long as possible'.
As much as Alaba would be an incredible signing of a player that can not only play at full-back on both sides, centre back and also in midfield, it may behove the club to look at targets that are more readily available.
Even on a temporary basis. Before returning for the Austrian during the summer window, if his availability was to change by that point in time. As things stand, it has been 'internally excluded' that Alaba will be leaving in January.
