AFCON officially pushed back to 2022, giving LFC a big boost
Whilst rivals have been dropping out of Europe like flies, and major signings haven't been forthcoming for others, Liverpool have had their feet up. Enjoying their success.
A new training camp is now underway, a new left-back is signed to challenge Andy Robertson and more are obviously in the pipeline. All looks good for the Liverpool right now.
The only real concern was that the AFCON was scheduled to take place in January 2021, meaning that we'd likely lose several of our most important players: Naby Keita, Sadio Mane and Mo Salah.
But news today has confirmed that the AFCON has been rescheduled for 2022, giving Liverpool a stay of execution, in a sense. It also means that our transfer strategy is freed up slightly; we no longer have to plan to potentially lose those players for a month.
Now, there are no such concerns, and the Reds will have no fears of losing key players throughout the busy holiday period, until 2022 when the World Cup will disrupt everything.
