Adrian keen to keep his first Liverpool clean sheet today
The 32 year old Spaniard probably thought when he arrived at Liverpool that he would get a few cup appearances, maybe the odd Champions League start.
But to be thrust into action minutes into the first game of the season won't have been on his agenda. Adrian, though, has stepped up fairly impressively.
A mistake aside against Southampton, he became a hero against Chelsea a few weeks ago and made some smart saves against Arsenal.
The only downside though, having won every game so far this season since making his debut, is that lack of a clean sheet. ]
And that is something that Adrian is keen to rectify. Hopefully today at Burnley. He told Liverpoolfc.com: "A clean sheet for the ‘keeper and the defenders means a lot.
"Obviously we want to win the three points, that’s the most important [thing]. But the second-most important thing is to keep a clean sheet. We didn’t get it at the moment.
"We are improving game by game. The last game against Arsenal we did really well, we played 70 to 75 minutes at great intensity so Arsenal didn’t have any chance to win the game.
"We go to a different kind of game at Burnley’s pitch; a different size and a different style of play of them. But we are preparing well for the game and we go there to get three points – and hopefully to get the first clean sheet."
