Adebayor: Salah and Mane shouldn't have won CAF best player award
Far be it for me to say, but Emmanuel Adebayor has always seemed like he has an axe to grind with somebody or maybe he feels like his career wasn't quite what it should have been.
A decent player, with a decent goals return and a relatively decent trophy haul in his career. But he was never anything more than that, having probably one stellar season in his career.
So it's a bit strange to hear him to unnecessarily attack both Mo Salah and Sadio Mane out of the blue, over the fact that both have won the CFA Player of the Year award.
Via Kingfut, the former Arsenal forward argued: "How is Mane winning CAF Best Player Of The Year when he’s not African based? "Lionel Messi has never won any continental individual trophy in his continent. "CAF stands for Confederation Of African Football. "How Salah and Sadio win it is way out of my worst imagination. "That award belongs to African (based) players."
The only thing you can really say to that is this: perhaps Emmanuel would like to give his CFA POTY award that he won in 2008 back? Then we can discuss Salah and Mane's awards.
